Braces are used to solve orthodontic problems of bad bites, crowded or crooked teeth & misalignment. Braces are attached to teeth & fitted with different methods that shift the teeth as per desired position.
Types of Braces
- One traditional method of aligning teeth position is using metal wire or bracket braces which are least expensive option.
- The other method is Invisalign. It straightens the teeth into perfect alignment and as compared to metal braces they are unnoticeable. They are made of clear plastic and are strong to shift the teeth with ease. It types are clear braces, inside braces and clear aligners.
Clear braces
are made of composite materials and are larger than metal brackets that require small rubber bands to hold them to the arch wire.
Inside braces
are hidden from public view by fitting them to the back of the teeth. Now computer custom braces are used which are attached to the upper and lower teeth after which scanned images of the insides can be taken.
Clear aligners
are used to provide irritation free treatment with less adjustment discomfort. There are no brackets or wires to come off or break. Also they are easily removable for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing purposes.
Both these braces method depending on the cases are used. For ex. invisalign braces may not be used for certain misalignment cases or an individual facing complex bite problem. This then is solved by fitting traditional braces.
Adults and older teenagers can use invisalign as originally it was designed for them requiring absolute cooperation, but is not suitable for little children. The younger ones have to use metal braces to solve their oral issues.
