Types of X-ray
Intra oral X-ray is a regular dentistry radiograph which is taken inside the mouth
Extra oral X-ray is taken outside the mouth
X-rays are safe radiographs that expose an individual to a minimal amount of radiation. They pass through the teeth and bone and get absorbed due to its dense nature. They pass more easily through gums and cheek because of low density.
With full safety precautions taken, X-ray equipment is able to eliminate unnecessary radiation from specific part of the mouth that a patient may be receiving. An apron made of lead that covers body from neck to knees is used to prevent stray radiation to give its ill feeling.
